About us
Working together to protect New Zealand's poultry and egg industries
Poultry Industry Association New Zealand
PIANZ represents the interests of more than 99% of poultry meat producers in New Zealand. It ensures that producers meet exacting standards in animal welfare, stockmanship and food safety.
The Association’s work includes liaising with Government on issues affecting the industry, undertaking research, and maintaining a dialogue with our overseas counterparts, scientific and research organisations such as the World Poultry Science Association, animal welfare groups, and major customers and retailers.
The goal of the New Zealand poultry industry is to remain a trusted, economic and safe source of food for consumers while meeting or exceeding the high standards imposed by world-respected regulatory bodies such as the Ministry for Primary Industries.
Egg Producers Federation of New Zealand
EPF plays a vital and key role in the NZ Egg Industry by supporting and representing all NZ commercial egg farmer producers – including free range, barn and colony cage systems.
The EPF is governed by a Board of farmers who are voted in by its members. Their roles include facilitating industry collaboration, reporting statistics, advocating for the industry’s best interests and promoting responsible, safe and sustainable practices. In doing so the EPF plays a pivotal role in ensuring the continued success, sustainability and growth of the New Zealand Egg Industry while maintaining best practices and stringent animal welfare standards, food safety and biosecurity regulations of all its members.
EPF is proud to manage the voluntary nationwide egg stamping programme Trace My Egg. This is a source-assurance initiative that spans the NZ Egg Industry. It is easily recognisable by the 5-digit codes which are stamped onto the egg shells. These codes can be used to trace the individual egg back to the farm that it originated from quickly and simply by visiting the Trace My Egg website www.tracemyegg.co.nz and entering the 5-digit code from the eggshell into the Trace It! function on the website.
Joint Biosecurity Initiative
This poultry disease prevention and response biosecurity website is a collaborative initiative between PIANZ and EPF to provide comprehensive biosecurity and emergency response resources for New Zealand’s poultry and egg industries.
In light of increasing global avian influenza threats and other exotic disease risks, our industries have come together to ensure all farmers, producers, and industry professionals have immediate access to:
- Disease prevention resources and biosecurity best practices
- Emergency response procedures and protocols
- Contact information for industry contractors and support services
- Latest news and updates on biosecurity threats
- Direct links to government resources and hotlines
